They say every life is a journey.

That may be true but not every life is a journey in a geographical sense. Some journeys take place in one state or city, others even in the confines of a single neighborhood. Aside from a few vacations, the maps of these journeys are pretty small.

I have nothing against those journeys but they are not the ones that interest me.

It’s easier to come from that perspective as a ghost because I will be able to help learn, understand and translate that sometimes complex language into something a more broad readership could understand and relate to.

Learning the lingo for a profession, business or field of interest is one thing but cross-cultural understanding is something you just can’t teach.

I’ve lived on four continents — North America, Europe, South America and Asia — and I’ve spent significant time in Africa. During stints in cities ranging from Los Angeles, U.S.A. to Madrid, Spain and Rio De Janeiro, Brazil to Chongqing, China, I’ve developed the ability to communicate in four languages. I’ve also lived in places with a population of 100 and another with 32 million. I get the rural and urban cultural divide as well as the international ones.

Living in another culture is difficult. Doing business, dating, communicating, even eating and similar day-to-day activities — all these things are tough but that’s before you try explaining them to someone else. So much is lost in cultural translation that what you're left with are stories that are oversimplified or too complicated to follow.

I will smooth out the edges of your international journey — whether it takes place in a village or a mega city — and help make it something you can look back and say “Yes! That’s how it happened.”
